Programs
The Renewable Energy Incentive Program (REIP) provides rebates that reduce the upfront cost of installing renewable energy wind and sustainable biomass projects. The REIP is part of New Jersey's efforts to reach its Energy Master Plan goals of striving to use 30 percent of electricity from renewable sources by 2020. The program includes financial incentives to system owners who install qualified clean energy generation systems in New Jersey.
SREC REGISTRATION PROGRAM (SRP)
New Jersey is the fastest growing market for solar photovoltaics in the United States and one of the largest in terms of installations and installed capacity, second only to California. Much of this success is due to New Jersey’s Solar Financing Model, which relies on high renewable energy standards and the use of SRECs.
The Solar Renewable Energy Certificate (SREC) Registration Program (SRP) is used to register non-rebated solar projects in New Jersey. Owners of non-rebated solar projects MUST register their projects prior to the start of construction in the SRP in order to establish the project’s eligibility to earn SRECs.
* Projects being developed through the REIP do not need to enroll in this program, but will still be eligible to register with the SREC tracking system upon system completion.
- RENEWABLE ENERGY MANUFACTURING INCENTIVE (REMI)
New Jersey’s Renewable Energy Manufacturing Incentive (REMI) program provides rebates to New Jersey residents, businesses, local governments, and non-profit organizations that purchase and install solar panels, inverters, and racking systems manufactured in New Jersey.
- SREC TRACKING SYSTEM
Each time a system generates 1,000 kWh of electricity an SREC is earned and placed in the customer's electronic account. SRECs can then be sold on the SREC tracking system, providing revenue for the first 15 years of the system's life.
The Solar Renewable Energy Certificate (SREC) tracking system enables account holders to track solar energy system production from individual generators. SRECs are issued to account holders based on recorded or estimated production of the solar energy system. Once your solar energy system has been installed and your online SREC tracking system account has been established, SRECs will be deposited monthly, based on either estimated or actual reported energy production. The SREC tracking system also records the sale of SRECs from generators to purchasers.
- UTILITY FINANCING PROGRAMS
The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities has approved innovative financing programs at three of the state’s electric utilities to support the installation of solar photovoltaic systems that produce clean renewable electricity for customers’ onsite use.
- NJ CLEANPOWER CHOICE PROGRAM
The CleanPower Choice Program is a statewide program that allows you to choose clean, renewable sources of energy. By choosing CleanPower, you're choosing to support the generation of renewable energy sources that diversify our energy supply and help create a healthier environment. Solar power. Wind power. Low-impact or small hydro power. Landfill gas power. Clean power, that's good for the environment, good for the climate, and good for New Jersey.
- 2008 PROGRAMS
The 2008 renewable energy programs, including the CORE Program and the SREC-Only Pilot Program, ended as of December 31, 2008. Information about these programs will remain on this web site for reference, but applications are no longer being accepted.
- EDA PROGRAMS
Whether you are a New Jersey-based company or institution "going green", a manufacturer of clean energy systems or products, or an innovative company developing new, green technology, New Jersey may have financing and incentive programs to help.
